(5) Charge for inspection. When inspection is requested and made and the work found to be either incomplete or inaccurate or not in conformity with the Building Code of the City or at variance with the information submitted in the application, a charge of seventy five dollars ($75.00) shall be made for each inspection category found necessary. | |
(6) Special Inspections. Inspections and special meetings for buildings and/or equipment not specified in the above schedule, as determined by the Building Inspector, will be fifty dollars ($50.00) | |
(f) Moving of buildings, structures, excessively large or heavy equipment devices.
A. For moving on any public street or portion thereof - base fee is $250.00
B. No permit for moving any object shall be issued unless appropriate arrangements have first been made with the Chief of Police to provide a police escort.
C. In the event the base fee is insufficient to cover the supervision and inspections, according to the nature of the work, or any additional charges are incurred by the city, the owner or the mover is responsible for any additional fees.
(g) Purpose of fees.
(1) The permit fees are intended to cover the Inspector's time required to examine the plans and to make the required on-site inspections. The Building Inspector may require plans to be submitted in greater detail as he may determine necessary. Any additional costs incurred by the City thereby shall inure to the applicant of the permit.
(2) Any person who commences any work on a building, structure, electrical, gas, mechanical or plumbing system before or without obtaining the necessary permits, shall be subject to double the amount of all required permit fees.
(3) Property owners with household income at or below 175 percent of the federal poverty guidelines are eligible for a 50% reduction in permit fees on projects including but not limited to basic repairs, maintenance, and safety improvements. Qualifying households must be enrolled in the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program and provide a copy of an eligible utility bill.
(4) In addition to the above, the Mayor of the City of Aurora reserves the right to waive any fees or requirements, if it shall be in the best interest of the City of Aurora or the community.

(h) Expiration and Extension. The construction, alteration, or addition of a building, and the equipment and maintenance thereof, shall conform to the required plans which have been approved by the building official. All projects are required to maintain a valid permit until issued a final approval by the building official.
(1) Failure to obtain an inspection after six (6) months following the issuance of a building permit shall result in the forfeiture of the completion deposit and the permit shall be deemed invalid and non-compliant.
(2) Pursuant to the Ohio Building Code (OBC) that is hereby adopted by the City of Aurora, if, in the course of construction, work is delayed or suspended for more than six (6) months, up to two extensions may be granted for six (6) months each if requested by the owner at least ten (10) days in advance of the expiration of the approval.
