351.12 PROHIBITION AGAINST PARKING ON STREETS OR HIGHWAYS.
   (a)   Upon any street or highway outside a business or residence district, no person shall stop, park or leave standing any vehicle, whether attended or unattended, upon the paved or main traveled part of the street or highway if it is practicable to stop, park or so leave such vehicle off the paved or main traveled part of such street or highway. In every event, a clear and unobstructed portion of the street or highway opposite such standing vehicle shall be left for the free passage of other vehicles, and:
      (1)   The driver of that vehicle shall have a clear and unobstructed forward sight distance of two hundred feet (200').
      (2)   There shall be no parking within one hundred twenty-five feet (125') of any intersection.
      (3)   The driver of the vehicle shall place or cause to be placed behind the vehicle two (2) bright orange traffic cones. One of the cones shall be placed at a distance of fifty feet (50') from the rear of the vehicle, and the second cone shall be placed at a distance of one hundred feet (100') from the rear of the vehicle.
      (4)   It shall be an affirmative defense to this section if the vehicle is disabled while on the paved or improved or main traveled portion of a street or highway in such manner and to such extent that it is impossible to avoid stopping and temporarily leaving the disabled vehicle in such position, or if the vehicle is parked purely for personal or social reasons.

   (b)   Whoever violates any provision of this section is guilty of a minor misdemeanor on a first offense; on a second offense within one year after the first offense, the person is guilty of a misdemeanor of the fourth degree; on each subsequent offense within one year after the first offense, the person is guilty of a misdemeanor of the third degree.
