§ 98.031  BITTEN BY RABID ANIMAL; DISPOSITION.
   In the case of dogs or cats known to have been bitten or scratched by a rabid animal, the following rules shall apply.
   (A)   In the case of a dog or cat which has not been vaccinated in accordance with the laws of the state and the ordinances of the city and which has been bitten by a known rabid animal, the bitten or exposed dog or cat shall be immediately destroyed, unless the owner is willing to place the dog or cat in strict isolation in a kennel under veterinary supervision for a period of not less than six months and vaccinate the dog or cat one moth prior to release from the isolation.
   (B)   If the bitten or exposed dog or cat is vaccinated in accordance with the laws and the ordinances of the city, the dog or cat shall be subject to the following procedure:
      (1)   The dog or cat shall be immediately given a booster within five days of exposure and observed for a period of not less than 45 days following vaccination;
      (2)   If the dog or cat is not immediately revaccinated, the dog or cat shall be confined in strict isolation in a kennel for a period of not less than six months under the supervision of a veterinarian and vaccinated one month prior to release from the isolation; or
      (3)   The dog or cat shall be destroyed, if the owner does not comply with either divisions (B)(1) or (2) of this section.
