1501.18 OUTDOOR COMBUSTION FURNACES PROHIBITED.
   (a)    For purposes of this section, the term “Outdoor Combustion Furnace” shall mean any device located outside a main or primary dwelling or commercial structure, whether or not enclosed in an appurtenant shed, attached or detached garage or similar structure, which is intended to provide heat or heated water to any portion of the primary dwelling or commercial structure by combustion of wood, wood pellets, cellulose, other biomass, coal or charcoal.
   (b)    No person shall construct, establish, install, operate or maintain an Outdoor Combustion Furnace on any residential or commercial property located within the corporate limits of the City of Ashtabula, Ohio.
   (c)    This section shall not apply to:
      (1)    A properly installed and maintained fireplace or wood-burning stove used only to provide heat in the structure it occupies;
      (2)    A properly installed and maintained kiln used in the creation of ceramics and similar products on a property zoned for such activity; or
      (3)    A properly installed and maintained craft forge located on a property zoned for such activity. (Ord. 2012-107. Passed 7-2-12.)
