For purposes of this chapter the following words and phrases shall have the following meanings ascribed to them respectively.
(a) "Peddler" means any person who carries with him goods, wares, merchandise or personal property of any nature whatsoever for the purpose of sale and immediate delivery from house to house.
(b) "Canvasser" or "solicitor" means any person, whether a resident of the City or not, traveling either by foot, motor vehicle, or any other type of conveyance from place to place, from house to house, or from street to street, or contacting persons by telephone, who takes or attempts to take orders for the sale of goods, wares, merchandise, or personal property of any nature whatsoever for future delivery, or for services to be furnished or performed in the future.
