§ 151.56 ELECTRICAL INSPECTOR.
   (A)   Position of Electrical Inspector.
      (1)   There is hereby created the position of Electrical Inspector, said party(ies) to be appointed by the Board of City Commissioners and shall report to the Director of Planning and Community Development. The position shall be filled by contract unless the Board determines otherwise. A person(s) chosen to act as an Electrical Inspector shall be a competent electrician(s) of good moral character and certified as an electrical inspector for residential and commercial uses by the Department of Housing, Building and Construction, Electrical Division, Commonwealth of Kentucky.
      (2)   He or she shall have substantial bona fide experience in construction of work and shall have such extensive ability as required for the faithful performance of his or her duties, and shall have a thorough knowledge of standard materials and methods used in the installation of electrical wiring devices, appliances and equipment. He or she shall be well versed in approved methods of electrical construction to assure the safety of life and property, the laws of the Commonwealth of Kentucky and the ordinances of the city, relating to electrical work, the rules and regulations issued under the authority of the Kentucky Revised Statutes and the National Electrical Code. In the discretion of the Department Director, alternate persons may be named to conduct electrical inspections, as may be required from time to time. It shall be unlawful for any Electrical Inspector or any of his or her authorized assistants, agents or employees, to engage in the business of sales, installation or maintenance of electric wiring devices, appliances or equipment, either directly or indirectly, and he or she shall not have any financial interest in any business or enterprise engaged in such electrical business in the city at any time while such individual is the Electrical Inspector for the city.
   (B)   Duties. It shall be the duty of the Electrical Inspector to see that the provisions of this subchapter are enforced and to enforce within the city the laws of the Commonwealth relating to the installation of electrical wiring, devices, appliances and equipment. He or she shall make inspections of all new electrical installations as set out herein. He or she shall keep records of all permits issued, inspections and reinspections made and other official work performed in accordance with the provisions of this subchapter and such records shall be available for review at the request of the Department Director.
