(A) Scope. This subchapter shall be known and may be cited as the “Electrical Ordinance of the City of Ashland, Kentucky.”
(B) Purpose. This subchapter is hereby declared to be remedial and shall be construed to secure the beneficial interests and purposes of public safety, health and welfare, through structural strength and stability, and safety of life and property from fire hazards incidental to installation, alteration, repair and/or removal of the electrical wiring or equipment.
(C) Compliance with national code. All electrical wiring in installation of electrical apparatus and appliances for furnishing light, heat or power in the city, from and after March 13, 2014, shall comply in all respects with the rules and regulations of the National Electric Code of the National Fire Protection Association as issued, revised, and in effect from time to time hereafter, and with the provisions of this subchapter, the laws of the Commonwealth of Kentucky and other applicable ordinances of the city, as now exist and as may be amended.
(D) Resistance electric heating. All installations of resistance electric heating shall comply with the latest recommendations of the American Society of Heating and Air Conditioning Engineers.
