9-3-5: ZONING OF ANNEXED LAND:

Prior to annexation of any land to the city, the area shall be studied by the commission, which shall recommend to the council a zoning plan designed to conform to the master plan of the city. Upon annexation, the lands will automatically be zoned accordingly. (1996 Code § 17.12.040)
