A. The city adopts, the international fire code, 2015 edition, including appendices B, C and D, all of the regulations, provisions, penalties, conditions, limitations and terms of said fire code, together with all amendments thereto, and revisions, modifications and recompilations thereof, with exception only to the following specific sections:
Section 101.1 - Insert the following values:

Number of days = 90
Section 105.7 shall be amended to read:
Section 105.7 - Required Construction Permits. The fire code official is authorized to issue construction permits for work as set forth in sections 105.7.1 through 105.7.20.
Section 105.7.9 shall be amended to read:
Section 105.7.9 - Gates, Fences, And Barricades. A construction permit is required for the installation of or modification to a gate, fence, or barricade across a fire apparatus road, within 75 feet of a structure, or within 10 feet of a fire hydrant. This includes temporary barricades, fences, or gates.
Section 105.7.13 shall be amended to read:
Section 105.7.13 - Fire Hydrants. A construction permit is required for the installation, removal, or modification of fire hydrants. Maintenance performed in accordance with this code is not considered to be a modification and does not require a permit.
Exception: Fire hydrant installation conducted by those employed by the city of Artesia.
Section 105.7.19 shall be added:
Section 105.7.19 - Means Of Egress. A construction permit is required for any new construction involving a means of egress, alteration to any existing means of egress, or removal of any component of an existing means of egress.
Exceptions: Any work limited to replacement of the existing door or door hardware with the same type/rating of door and hardware.
Section 105.7.20 shall be added:
Section 105.7.20 - Demolitions. A permit is required for the demolition of any structure, including but not limited to, buildings, fire department access roads, bridges, or towers.
Section 111.4 shall be amended to read:
Section 111.4 - Failure To Comply. Any person who shall continue any work after having been served with a stop work order, except such work as that person is directed to perform by the appropriate city official to remove a violation or unsafe condition, shall be cited into municipal court.
Section 5704.2.9.6.1 shall be amended to read:
Section 5704.2.9.6.1 - The storage of class I and class II liquids in above-ground tanks is prohibited in zoning districts: SA-1, SA-2, R1-A, R1-B, R-2, C, H, P, MH, PUD, and SU-1.
Section 5706.2.4.4 shall be amended to read:
Section 5706.2.4.4 - The storage of class I and class II liquids in above-ground tanks is prohibited in zoning districts: SA-1, SA-2, R1-A, R1-B, R-2, C, H, P, MH, PUD, and SU-1.
Section 5806.2 shall be amended to read:
Section 5806.2 - The storage of flammable cryogenic fluids in stationary containers is prohibited in zoning districts: SA-1, SA-2, R1-A, R1-B, R-2, C, P, MH, PUD, and SU-1.
Section 6104.2 shall be amended to read:
Section 6104.2 - The storage of liquefied petroleum gas in stationary containers is prohibited in zoning districts: SA-1, SA-2, R1-A, R1-B, R-2, C, P, MH, PUD, and SU-1.
B. The city adopts NFPA-1, fire code, 2015 edition, and NFPA-101, life safety code, 2015 edition, for reference purposes only.
C. The city adopts NFPA 13, standard for the installation of sprinkler systems, 2016 edition, all of the regulations, provisions, penalties, conditions, limitations and terms of said fire code, together with all amendments thereto, and revisions, modifications and recompilations thereof.
D. The city adopts NFPA 72, national fire alarm and signaling code, 2016 edition, all of the regulations, provisions, penalties, conditions, limitations and terms of said fire code, together with all amendments thereto, and revisions, modifications and recompilations thereof, with exception only to the following specific sections:
Section 10.12.2 shall be amended to read:
Section 10.12.2 - When an occupant notification alarm signal deactivation means is actuated, only audible notification appliances shall be deactivated. Visual notification appliances shall remain active until a successful reset of the system occurs.
Section 18.5.7 shall be added:
Section 18.5.7 - An audible and visual appliance shall be placed on the exterior of the building. This appliance shall be located near the main entrance unless otherwise specified by the fire code official. The appliance shall be mounted not less than 80 in. and not greater than 96 in. in height, unless approved by the fire code official.
