No Trustee of this village, during the term of office for which he or she is elected, may accept or be appointed to or hold any office appointed by the Mayor except if the Trustee is granted a leave of absence from the office. However, the Trustee may serve as a volunteer firefighter and receive compensation for the service. Any appointment in violation of this section is void.
