For the purpose of this subchapter, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
AVAILABILITY CHARGE. A payment required by an owner or developer for the privilege of connecting directly or indirectly to the town’s water and/or sanitary sewer systems.
CONNECTION CHARGE. A payment required in addition to the tap fees for the privilege of connecting a sanitary sewer line to the town’s sewer system. Fees to be paid when building permit for the premises is issued by the town.
DEVELOPER. The entity developing, owning or selling the property to be served.
INTERCEPTOR SEWER. A sewer line installed usually in a roadway, street or easement, to collect from lateral sewers, or in some cases service lines, and transport sewage to treatment facilities; not primarily designed for collection of sewage from individual customers.
LATERAL SEWER. A sanitary sewer usually in a roadway, street, alley or easement, collecting from service lines leading to an interceptor sewer.
MAY. The act referred to is permissive.
SERVICE LINE. The customer’s line running from the structure’s sanitary sewer system on the premises to the sewer lateral or in some cases an interceptor sewer. Also the customer’s water line running from the structure’s water system on the premises to the water meter setting.
SHALL. The act referred to is mandatory.
TAP FEES. A fee required by the town in addition to the connection charge for all costs incurred by the town for tapping, or extending water and sanitary sewer services. Fees to be paid when building permit for the premises is issued by the town.
TOWN. The Town of Arcadia, Indiana, or to the Arcadia Town Council as those duly elected and charged with the responsibility of managing the town’s affairs including the municipal water and sewage works.
