(A) Each member shall be appointed because of his or her knowledge and experience in community affairs, his or her awareness of the social, economic, agricultural and industrial problems of the area and his or her interest in the development and integration of the area. A member may not hold other elective or appointive office in municipal, county or state government. A member must be a resident of the jurisdictional area of the Board of Zoning Appeals.
(B) A member of the Board of Zoning Appeals may not participate in a hearing or decision of that Board concerning a zoning matter in which he or she has a direct or indirect financial interest. The Board shall enter in its records the fact that its member has such a disqualification.
