(A) (1) As stated above, the said Committee shall serve in an advisory function and capacity to the Town Council, to the town’s business community, to various other governmental and or utility agencies and to the community at large. The Committee shall, among other things, provide input to the various governmental bodies regarding existing and/or new ordinances that have a direct effect on the business community. It shall vigorously recruit business and industry, and it shall create awareness of the business opportunities and resources that are available to businesses in and around the town. In addition, the Committee will provide businesses with a central location to gather pertinent, up/to date information on the local opportunities of doing business in the town, including, but not limited to, licensing, permits and building services.
(2) In addition to foregoing, the Committee will undertake additional tasks as may be assigned from time to time by the Town Council.
(B) Since the town’s Economic Development Committee will serve only in an advisory capacity, it does not have the legal authority, nor the legal standing, to incur debt, enter into contracts or agreements, or to undertake any actions of any kind that would be legally binding upon the town, the Town Council or the residents of the town.
