§ 6-5-2 IMPOUNDMENT OF ANIMALS FOUND IN MOTOR VEHICLES.
   An Enforcement Officer who finds an animal in a motor vehicle in violation of this article may force entry into the motor vehicle if necessary to remove the animal. The Enforcement Officer removing the animal shall take the animal to the Animal Control Division or other place of safekeeping and shall, in the event the person having custody cannot be otherwise contacted, leave in a prominent place in the motor vehicle a written notice bearing the Enforcement Officer’s name, the office and address where the animal may be claimed by the owner thereof. The animal will be surrendered to the owner if the owner claims it within 3 business days from the time the animal was removed from the motor vehicle, and shall pay all reasonable charges that have accrued for its maintenance. The owner must also at the time of return of the animal make current all licensing and vaccinations and pay all associated fines incurred for the city’s care of the animal.
