The County Council shall, by resolution, appoint a County Auditor who shall hold office for an indefinite term at the pleasure of the Council and shall receive such compensation as the Council may determine. The County Auditor shall be a certified public accountant licensed for the practice of their profession under the laws of this State, and shall be appointed on the basis of their knowledge of governmental accounting and auditing and shall have at least five years experience pertaining to the duties of the office.
