(a) Definitions. In this section, the following words have the meanings indicated:
(1) “Bar” means a commercial establishment for the sale and service of alcoholic beverages for on-premises consumption in which the service of food, if served at all, is incidental to the consumption of such beverages.
(2) “Health club” means a commercial establishment offering instruction, training, or assistance in or facilities for the development, preservation, or maintenance of physical fitness or well being, including health spas; sports, tennis, and racquetball clubs; figure salons; gymnasiums; weight control studios; and martial arts and self-defense schools.
(3) “Owner or operator” means the owner, operator, manager, or other person having control of an establishment.
(4) “Public place” means a County owned or leased building; bar, health club, restaurant, or theatre; social hall or arena; meeting room when used for public meetings; and public or community owned swimming pool.
(5) “Restaurant” means a commercial establishment for the sale of food for on- premises consumption.
(6) “Resuscitation equipment” means an exhaled-air resuscitation mask permitted to be marketed by the Food and Drug Administration, accompanied by a pair of latex gloves.
(7) “Theatre” means a motion picture theatre, concert hall, auditorium, or other building used for the primary purpose of exhibiting movies, stage dramas, musical recitals, dance, or similar performances.
(b) Requirement. The owner, lessee, or operator of a public place shall have readily accessible in the public place at all times resuscitation equipment for use in medical emergencies; shall post with the resuscitation equipment a sign describing its use and that the equipment is for single use only and should be disposed of after being used; and shall provide notice to patrons by signs or other printed material of the availability of resuscitation equipment for emergency use and providing information on how to obtain cardiopulmonary resuscitation training. The resuscitation equipment shall be discarded after a single use. Resuscitation equipment shall be inspected as scheduled by the Fire Department along with inspections of fire extinguishers at the public place to ensure that the resuscitation equipment is readily accessible and in operating condition.
(c) Effect. Nothing contained in this section imposes a duty or obligation on any person to provide resuscitation assistance to the victim of a medical emergency.
