Acts in violation of this chapter constitute a municipal infraction under Chapter 4 of the Municipal Code of the City of Ankeny, Iowa. In addition to the discontinuance of water service provided for under Section 90.18, the following schedule of civil penalties for specific prohibited acts are applicable under this chapter and shall be assessed by the issuance of a civil citation by an officer authorized by the City to enforce this Code:
1. Operation of a curb stop shutoff valve is subject to a $250.00 penalty for the first offense and $500.00 for each repeat offense.
2. Operation of a hydrant is subject to a $750.00 penalty for the first offense and $1,000.00 for each repeat offense.
3. Illegal use of water is subject to a $750.00 penalty for the first offense and $1,000.00 for each repeat offense.
4. Tampering with a meter is subject to a $750.00 penalty for the first offense and $1,000.00 for each repeat offense.
