(a) The appointment of the Building Official, as head of the Building Department, and such other officers and/or support staff as are necessary for its proper administration, shall be made by the Director of Public Safety and Service.
(b) The position of Building Official is hereby declared to be a part-time position to be paid a contract wage or salary for a specified number of office hours, as may be established from time to time by Council or shall be declared to be a full-time position to be paid an hourly rate as provided in the Memorandum of Understanding between the City and the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, AFL-CIO if the full-time Building Inspector also meets the qualification requirements in Section 1131.03 contained herein. The Building Official shall work no more than forty (40) regularly scheduled hours per week.
