(A) Amberley Village hereby establishes the Auxiliary Police Unit within the Amberley Village Police Department. The primary purpose of the Auxiliary Unit is to provide part-time trained peace officers to supplement and complement existing full-time peace officers.
(B) The Police Chief shall be the executive head of the Auxiliary Unit and shall make all decisions concerning the appointment and removal of officers to or from the Auxiliary Unit. Such decisions shall be made in accordance with the Police Department policy and procedures. The Police Chief is authorized to establish policies and procedures governing the employment of auxiliary peace officers. Auxiliary peace officers shall be part-time employees of the village.
(C) Compensation of auxiliary peace officers is to be at a rate of $28 per hour with an hourly extra or special detail rate of $38.
(D) Auxiliary officers are not permitted to perform the full-time police officer duties of road work, or operate and identify themselves as an Amberley Village full-time unit officer. Auxiliary police officers are not required to be certified as firefighters, nor are they employed by the village as such.
