(a) All monthly charges (the basic charge) for the sale of water, natural gas, electricity, solid waste disposal, sewer use charges, and any other utility service hereafter furnished by the city shall be due and payable on the first day of the month following the month in which such utility service is used, at rates now in effect and which may from time to time hereafter be changed by ordinance and, if the charges are not paid on or before the 20th day of the month following the month in which such utility service is used, a late penalty charge of two percent of the basic charge shall be added to the basic charge. (If the basic charge and two percent penalty are not both paid on or before the 20th day of the month following the month in which such utility service is used, service shall be disconnected, subject to the due process procedures hereinafter set forth.) If the 20th day of the month or 25th day of the month (as used herein) fall on a Saturday, Sunday or legal holiday, the due date established herein as falling on the 20th or 25th of the month shall then fall on the first later day of the month which is not a Saturday, Sunday or legal holiday.
(b) A collection charge of $10 will be assessed on delinquent accounts not paid by the 25th of the month following use after the penalty has been added. (Ord. 299, Sec. 1; Ord. 333, Sec. 1)
