743.14 USE OF GASOLINE MOTORS; NOISE.
During the drilling stage all motors shall be provided with a muffler, or mufflers, which shall be of sufficient capacity to reduce noise to a maximum sound level of all operations of seventy (70) decibels at a three hundred foot (300') radius during maximum noise production periods. In the event that the decibel limit has been violated, the Mayor shall order the permittee to cease drilling until adequate measures are taken to reduce the decibel level equal to or less than seventy (70) decibels at a distance of three hundred feet ( 300') .
Well pumps may be operated with gasoline motors, provided such motors are properly muffled to reduce noise to a minimum and where such gasoline motors are not properly muffled Council may require electric motors for the well pump.
In the determination of what constitutes a properly muffled gasoline motor the decision of Council shall be final. (Ord. 128-92. Passed 12-21-92.)
