(a) A permit for the installation of a local alarm which, when activated, sounds a horn, bell, buzzer, siren or other type of audible alarm, shall be required if the sound created by the alarm is audible beyond the premises being served. The Police Chief shall issue a permit upon due application and compliance with the provisions of this chapter and all other applicable laws, provided the level of intensity of sound of the alarm is controlled so that it does not exceed fifty-five decibels at any location outside the premises being served.
(b) All local alarms as described herein shall be equipped with a means of automatically turning off the audible signal after a period of time designated by the Police Chief.
