§ 3.24.040 AUCTION.
   Should any unclaimed property in the possession of the Police Department remain unclaimed for the periods of time specified herein, the Chief of Police is thereafter authorized and required to cause the same to be sold at public auction to the highest bidder.
   (A)   Unclaimed property other than unclaimed bicycles shall be held by the Police Department for a period of not less than four months and unclaimed bicycles shall be held by the Police Department for a period of not less than three months.
   (B)   Notice of the time and place of sale, together with a schedule of the property to be offered for sale, shall be given by the Chief of Police at least five days before the time fixed therefor, by publica-tion once in a newspaper of general circulation published in the city.
   (C)   Immediately after the completion of any such sale the Chief of Police shall deposit with the City Treasurer, accompanied with a detailed deposit slip statement, the proceeds of the sale.
