§ 23.51.030 ALL SIGNS REQUIRE A PERMIT; EXCEPTIONS.
   (A)   No sign shall be erected, altered or moved without a sign permit.
   (B)   The following signs shall be exempt from these regulations:
      (1)   Any sign erected and maintained pursuant to and in discharge of any governmental function, governmental regulation, or public utility operation.
      (2)   Political signs, if election-related, must be removed within 14 days after the election to which it pertains.
      (3)   Interior signs not oriented to the exterior of the building.
      (4)   Construction and development project signs. One non-illuminated sign per street frontage. For parcels of land less than one acre, maximum sign area, 40 square feet: maximum height, ten feet. For parcels of land one acre or larger, maximum sign area, 60 square feet: maximum height, 15 feet.
      (5)   Directional signs. Maximum sign area, four square feet per sign.
      (6)   Real estate signs not exceeding 15 square feet in area.
      (7)   Warning signs.
      (8)   Window signs advertising community events sponsored by civic, charitable or nonprofit organizations.
   (C)   The Director of Community Development or his designee shall issue the sign permit upon approval by the Design Review Board of the final architectural plan for the sign pursuant to Chapter 23.64. Sign permits for temporary signs shall be issued upon approval by the Director of Community Development or his designee.
