(A) Permit Required:
1. No resident of Aledo shall operate a motorized golf cart or NV without obtaining a permit from the City of Aledo Police Department as provided in this section.
2. Valid, current permits issued to residents of Mercer County, Illinois by Mercer County or any other municipality within Mercer County shall be honored by the City of Aledo and such permit-holders shall not be required to separately obtain a permit from the City of Aledo; provided, however, that such non-residents shall at all times have such permit or other evidence thereof available for presentation upon request by City officials and provided further that such non-residents shall at all times comply with the provisions of Title 9, Chapter 10 of the Aledo City Code, except as set forth in this section.
3. Non-residents who do not have a valid, current permit from another municipality within Mercer County shall not operate a motorized golf cart or NV without obtaining a permit from the City of Aledo Police Department as provided in this section.
(B) Golf cart or NV owners must complete an original permit application or renewal permit application, as appropriate, which may be obtained from the City of Aledo Police Department. The completed forms will be maintained by the City of Aledo Police Department.
(C) The initial cost and the renewal cost of a permit shall be pursuant to Title 13, "Schedule of Fees", of this Code, to cover the costs of implementing and maintaining this chapter, and shall be paid to the City of Aledo by the applicant.
(D) All permits expire on December 31 of each year regardless of the date on which the original permit was issued.
(E) After completion of the original permit application and payment of the requisite original permit fee a permit shall be issued to the applicant which must be kept on/in the vehicle at all times.
(F) The Police Department shall issue a sticker as visible proof of compliance, which shall be valid until December 31 of the year of registration, and which must be visibly displayed on the back passenger side or "slow moving" emblem located at the rear of the golf cart or NV at all times.
(G) Notwithstanding the provisions of this section, persons who have obtained permits from Visit MerCo or other municipalities shall be authorized to operate golf carts or NVs within the City of Aledo in accordance with the provisions of this chapter, provided that all such vehicles are equipped with a sticker on the rear of the vehicle as visible proof of compliance with Mercer County or such other municipality's ordinances.
