8-11-5: SIGNS; BILLBOARDS:
It shall be unlawful for any person other than a city official or employee conducting city business to place, erect or fasten any billboard or other placard, sign, notice, or other type of posting (collectively referred to within this section as "signs") upon public property or property owned by the city of Aledo, within the public right of way, upon any part of any sidewalk within the corporate limits of the city; or upon any part of any public street or alley in the city. It shall further be unlawful to nail, paste or otherwise fasten to or hang upon any telephone, electric light or telegraph pole within the corporate limits of the city, any signs of any character or description whatsoever; or to attach the same to any tree, light post or other object in any street or alley in the city. This section shall not apply to signs or advertisements extending out from and supported by buildings abutting upon any street or sidewalk in the city, which are so placed, hung or erected as to comply with the present regulations of the city relative to the same; nor apply to any billposting boards now or hereafter erected with the permission of the city. Signs erected in violation of this section shall be subject to immediate abatement upon identification. (Ord. 06/2016, 6-6-2016)
