6-1-5: PRESERVE PEACE:
It shall be the duty of the Chief of Police and Police Committee to cause the public peace to be preserved, and to see that all the laws and ordinances of the City are enforced; and whenever any violation thereof shall come to their knowledge they shall cause the requisite complaint to be made, and see that the evidence is procured for the prosecution of such offender. They shall obey, and cause all the police officers subordinate to them to obey all laws and ordinances regulating the police, and the police regulations which may hereafter at any time be established by the Chief of Police and the Council and the Police Committee, and see that the police respectively perform their duties faithfully and promptly.
