(A) The International Code Council (ICC) International Building Code (IBC), edition 2003, is hereby adopted as the Building Code for the City of Aledo, as amended by the City of Aledo. Compliance with the Code shall be required for all items regulated by said Code and where compliance is specifically required by the Code.
Exception 1: Where applicable, the standards of the ICC Existing Building Code may be applied.
Exception 2: The Code shall not apply to one- and two-family dwellings.
(B) The ICC International Existing Building Code, edition 2003, is hereby adopted, as amended by the City of Aledo. Compliance with the Code may be employed as an alternative to the International Building Code for those items regulated by the Code as applies to existing buildings, as defined. If using the Code as an alternative, compliance with the Code shall be required for all items regulated by the Code and where compliance is specifically required by the Code.
(C) The ICC International Mechanical Code, edition 2003, is hereby adopted, as amended by the City of Aledo. Compliance with the Code shall be required for all items regulated by the Code and where compliance is specifically required by the Code.
(D) The administrative portion of the ICC International Electrical Code, edition 2003, is hereby adopted, as amended by the City of Aledo and shall be the administration standard for all electrical work, as regulated by the National Electrical Code, as adopted and amended by the City of Aledo. Compliance with the adopted administrative provisions shall be required for all electrical work regulated by the Code.
(E) The ICC International Residential Code, edition 2003, is hereby adopted, as amended by the City of Aledo. The Code shall be the sole standard for the construction, alteration, addition and rehabilitation of all one- and two-family dwellings. Compliance with the Code shall be required for all items regulated by the Code and where compliance is specifically required by the Code. Exception: The 2003 ICC International Existing Building Code may be used as a compliance alternative where applicable and only for existing buildings, as defined.
(F) The NFPA National Electrical Code, edition 2003, is hereby adopted, as amended by the City of Aledo. The Code shall be the sole standard for electrical systems and electrical work. Exception: The Code shall not apply to structures regulated under the 2003 International One- and Two-Family Dwelling Code. (Ord. 06-19-06-1, 8-21-2006)
(G) The ICC International Property Maintenance Code (IPMC), 2009 edition, is hereby adopted, as amended by the City of Aledo. Compliance with the Code shall be required for all items regulated by same and where specifically mandated within the Code. (Ord. 29/2017, 8-7-2017)
(H) The State of Illinois Plumbing Code is hereby adopted, as amended by the City of Aledo. Compliance with the Code shall be required for all items regulated by same and where specifically mandated within the Code.
(I) All of the above Codes are adopted by reference and shall be enforceable as if fully set out in this chapter, with the additions, insertions, deletions and changes, if any, prescribed herein.
(J) Wherever a requirement of the Code conflicts with a written practice, policy or procedure adopted by the City Council, the adopted practice, policy or procedure shall prevail. (Ord. 06-19-06-1, 8-21-2006)
