§ 70.40  UNNECESSARY NOISE.
   (A)   No driver of any vehicle shall make any unnecessary noise or sound the horn, or other warning device of such vehicle except in an emergency and it shall also be unlawful:
      (1)   To operate any motor vehicle so as to cause excessive engine noise or squealing of tires; or
      (2)   To use dynamic or engine brakes, except to avert imminent danger, within the corporate limits of the village.
   (B)   As referenced herein, DYNAMIC OR ENGINE BRAKES shall be defined as a device which when activated retards one or more pistons on the engine of a truck or other motor vehicle in order to assist the truck or motor vehicle in braking and in the process of doing so creates a loud and offensive noise from the truck or motor vehicle.
   (C)   The village is hereby authorized to direct installation of appropriate signs which shall state “Engine Braking Prohibited” at such locations as may be determined appropriate.
