§ 96.05 IMPOUNDING.
   The Town Marshal, or any member of his or her department designated by him or her, is authorized to remove or have removed any vehicle left at any place within the town which is in violation of this chapter or lost, stolen or unclaimed. The vehicle shall be impounded until lawfully claimed or disposed of in accordance with state law. The 48 hour period of time provided in §§ 96.03 and 96.04 shall not commence until the Town Marshal of this town receives a complaint and has given the notice to the persons or a posted notice on the vehicle designated in the sections to comply with the ordinance. Only one 48 hour period of grace shall be granted. Whenever in the opinion of the Town Marshal of the town any hazard exists by reason of the violation of this chapter, no complaint shall be required, and the Town Marshal shall direct his or her department to give immediate notice to the persons designated in §§ 96.03 and 96.04 to remove any such vehicle within 48 hours. When no responsible person can be found to be given notice as provided in this section, removal may be made at once in accordance with the provisions of § 96.05.
