§ 73.04 RECOVERY OF LOST OR STOLEN LICENSED BICYCLES, MOTORIZED BICYCLES AND MOTOR SCOOTERS; RETURN TO REGISTERED OWNER.
The purpose for registering and licensing bicycles, motorized bicycles and motor scooters as defined in § 73.01 is to provide the Akron Police Department and other agencies the opportunity to rapidly return to their rightful owner all received lost and stolen bicycles and to provide the owner with a positive means of identifying his or her property. The owners of licensed bicycles, motorized bicycles and motor scooters which have been lost, borrowed or stolen and have been recovered by the Akron Police Department shall be notified of the recovery and the bicycles shall be returned to the owner as soon as possible. However, in the event that, after a reasonable effort, it is not possible to notify the owner and return a licensed bicycle, motorized bicycle or motor scooter in the manner provided by this section, the vehicle shall be treated and disposed in the same manner as an unlicensed bicycle, motorized bicycle or motor scooter as provided by § 73.05.
