Except as specifically permitted in this subchapter, it is unlawful for any person to operate a snowmobile within the right-of-way of any trunk, county state aid, county highway or city street except in the ditch or outside bank or slope of the right-of-way, and in the same direction as the highway traffic on the nearest lane of the roadway adjacent thereto. Where no ditch exists, snowmobiles may be operated only on the right-hand side of the right-of-way, and in no event on the roadway or shoulder, except as needed to cross a roadway, in compliance with § 71.07 of this code.
