5-1-5: TEMPORARY POLICE:
Whenever the mayor shall deem it necessary to temporarily increase the number of police officers, the mayor may appoint in writing one or more reputable citizens as temporary police officers, whose powers and duties shall be the same as other police officers. The mayor shall report all such temporary appointments to the city council at its next regular meeting, and the city council may continue or discontinue the same in its discretion. The person or persons so appointed shall receive such reasonable compensation as may be provided by the city council. (2006 Code § 6-1-4)
