Every officer upon making any arrest and taking weapons pursuant to this chapter shall deliver the same to the city magistrate to be held by him until the final determination of the prosecution for the offense. Upon a finding of guilty, the magistrate shall deliver the weapon forthwith to the Chief of Police who shall make disposition of the weapon in the manner prescribed by state law.
