The mayor, with the approval of the city council, shall appoint the first chairperson and vice-chairperson from among the commission members. The terms of office of the chairperson and vice-chairperson shall be for the calendar year, or that portion remaining after the chairperson or vice-chairperson is appointed or elected. Thereafter, when there is a vacancy in the office of a chairperson and/or vice-chairperson, the commission shall elect a chairperson and/or vice-chairperson from among its members. The chairperson shall preside at each meeting of the park and recreation commission and the vice-chairperson shall preside over such meetings in the absence of the chairperson. (Ord. 22 § 1, 1990)
