2.04.020   Compensation.
A.   Purpose. The ordinance codified in this section is enacted pursuant to Section 36516 of the Government Code, which authorizes a city council to provide by ordinance that each member of the council may receive a compensation based upon the population of the city as determined by census or by a certified estimate made by the State Department of Finance.
B.   Population. On the date the ordinance codified in this section is adopted, the latest estimate of population of the city of Yucaipa made by the State Department of Finance is 51,784.
C.   Compensation. Each member of the city council shall receive the sum of five hundred dollars ($500.00) per month. The compensation is payable at the same time and in the same manner as the compensation paid to each of the officers and employees of the city.
D.   Increase or Decrease. Increases and decreases in the city council compensation shall be in conformance with Sections 36516 and 36516.5 of the Government Code. The effective date of an adjustment in the compensation of the city council members is delayed pursuant to Section 36516 until one council member commences a new term of office when such adjustment is by an ordinance adopted in accordance with this section and is based on an increase in the city’s population.
E.   Reimbursement. The salaries prescribed by this section are exclusive of any other amount payable to a member of the city council as reimbursement for actual and necessary expenses incurred by him or her in the performance of his or her official duties. (Ord. 270 §§ 1—5, 2007)
