The purpose of this chapter is to regulate the subdivision of land and to promote the public health, safety and general welfare by preventing the overcrowding of land; lessening congestion in the streets and highways; providing for adequate space, light and air; facilitating adequate provision for water, sewerage, fire protection, parks and recreation areas, sites for schools and school grounds and other public requirements; providing for proper ingress and egress; and requiring uniform monumenting of land subdivisions and conveyancing by accurate legal descriptions.
