(a) Temporary Assignment. Effective January 1, 2023, an employee temporarily assigned to a position with a classification that has a lower rate of pay will not be reduced from his or her current rate of pay. An employee temporarily assigned to a position with a classification that has a higher rate of pay will be advanced to whichever is the greater of the following:
(1) The minimum rate for the classification of the position to which the employee has been temporarily assigned; or
(2) $1.50 per hour increase over the employee's current rate of pay; or
(3) A rate of pay which is at least five percent (5%) greater than the employee's current rate of pay.
(b) Definition. A temporary assignment is the act of assigning an employee to a position with a higher or lower classification from the employee's current position for a temporary period of time. Temporary assignments can occur because of vacancies, illness, emergencies, or other special circumstances.
