Residents of the city are encouraged to participate in the curbside recycling program sponsored by the city and the city’s contractor. The purpose of this program is to remove from the waste stream any materials which are readily recyclable. The removal of these items will effect a reduction in the amount of waste going to disposal facilities and in the associated disposal costs. Collection of recyclable items shall be performed on the same day as the refuse collection. No person, other than a person certified by the city, shall engage in or carry on the business of collecting, hauling or disposing of an item or items set at the curb in the city.
