§ 660.05 DUTY TO KEEP SIDEWALKS IN REPAIR AND CLEAN; SNOW AND ICE REMOVAL AND DISPOSAL.
   (a)   No owner or occupant of lots or lands abutting any sidewalk, curb or gutter shall fail to keep the sidewalks, curbs and gutters in repair and free from snow, ice or any nuisance, and to remove from such sidewalks, curbs or gutters all snow and ice accumulated thereon within a reasonable time, which will ordinarily not exceed 12 hours after any storm during which the snow and ice has accumulated.

   (b)   Every owner, occupant or person having charge of any building, lot or land fronting on any street of the city shall clear the whole sidewalk in front of the building, lot or land of snow and ice before 9:00 a.m., provided that if the sidewalk in front of any building, lot or land is not paved, a pathway shall be cleaned of ice and snow to a width of at least five feet. If, from any cause, it shall be impossible to remove all the snow and ice which may adhere to such sidewalk, then every such owner, occupant or person having charge shall cover such snow or ice as shall remain with a coating of salt, sand or other substance as may be necessary to render travel safe and convenient.

   (c)   No owner, occupant or person having charge of any building, lot or land fronting on any street of the city shall pile snow, which has fallen or accumulated on private property or land other than the sidewalk or street right of way, on the sidewalk or street right of way, except that snow accumulating on a sidewalk may be piled on the park strip between the outer edge of the sidewalk and the curb. In areas where there is no such park strip, snow which has accumulated on the sidewalk may be piled along the curb of the street.

    (d)   Whoever violates any of the provisions of this section is guilty of a minor misdemeanor.
