537.17 CURFEW.
   (a)   No minor under the age of eighteen years shall ride in a motor vehicle, or be on the public streets, other public places, places of amusement and entertainment, vacant lots or other unsupervised places, between the hours of 11:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. on the following day, Sunday through Thursday, and between the hours of 12:00 midnight and 5:00 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights, official City time; provided, however, that the provisions of this section do not apply to a minor accompanied by his parents, guardian or other adult person having the care and custody of the minor, or when the minor is upon an emergency errand or legitimate business directed by his parents, guardian or other adult person having the care or custody of the minor.
   (b)   No parent, guardian or other adult person having the care or custody of any minor under the age of eighteen years shall allow or permit such minor to loiter, idle, wander, stroll, play or ride a motor vehicle, on the public streets, other public places, places of amusement and entertainment, vacant lots or other unsupervised places between the hours of 11:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. on the following day, Sunday through Thursday, and between the hours of 12:00 midnight and 5:00 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights, official City time; provided, however, that the provisions of this section shall not apply to a minor accompanied by his parent, guardian or other person having the care and custody of such minor, or where the minor is upon an emergency errand or legitimate business directed by his parents, guardian or other adult person having the care or custody of the minor.
   (c)   The time limits set forth in subsections (a) and (b) hereof are subject to a thirty- minute grace period for any minor covered by such sections who is returning home by a direct route to the minor’s residence from the location of an organized school, church or civic activity or event after the termination of such organized school, church or civic activity or event.
   In the event that any such organized school, church or civic activity or event is scheduled to terminate later than 12:00 midnight on Friday or Saturday night, notification thereof shall be given in writing to the City Manager or his designee at least two weeks prior thereto, stating the anticipated termination time of such activity or event, the place and date thereof, and the name of the parent or adult over twenty-one years of age supervising such activity or event; which activity or event when approved by the City Manager shall enable any minor attending such activity or event a grace period of thirty-minutes after the termination of such event to return home as aforesaid.
   (d)   Any minor violating subsection (a) hereof shall be dealt with in accordance with Juvenile Court law and procedure.
   Whoever violates subsection (b) hereof is guilty of a minor misdemeanor.
