2-2-6: CARE OF TREES:
   A.   Town Responsibilities:
      1.   Care and maintenance of park and street trees and shrubs;
      2.   Removal of dead, diseased, or hazardous park trees and shrubs;
      3.   Controlling insects and diseases of park trees and shrubs; and
      4.   Managing insect and disease management programs for all trees in the town, e.g., cytospora canker.
   B.   Private Sector Responsibilities: Every owner of any tree overhanging any street or right of way within the town shall prune the branches so that such branches shall not obstruct the light from any streetlamp or obstruct the view of any street intersection and so that there shall be a clear space of eight feet (8') above the surface of the street or sidewalk. The owners shall remove all dead, diseased or dangerous trees, or broken or decayed limbs which constitute a menace to the safety of the public. (Ord. 95-8, 4-24-1995)
