§ 94.45 SPRINKLER REQUIREMENTS FOR NEW MULTI-FAMILY RESIDENTIAL STRUCTURES.
   (A)   An automatic fire sprinkler system is required to be installed in new multi-family construction, renovations and additions as follows:
      (1)   In all new multifamily residential structures of three or more attached housing units.
      (2)   In any structural addition to a multi-family residential structure of three or more attached housing units where the cost of the addition is greater than 50% of the building's value, sprinklers are required in the added area but not in the original part of the building.
      (3)   In the entirety of any multi-family residential structure of three or more attached housing units which is renovated at a cost greater than 50% of its value, or which has been damaged and is rebuilt at a cost greater than 50% of its value.
   (B)   The required sprinkler system for three unit structures shall meet the requirements of NFPA Standard #13R and NFPA Standard #13 for all structures with more than three units.
   (C)   All connections shall be located on the street side of each building, and activation of the sprinkler system shall activate both a local building alarm and a supervisory alarm and a 24-hour certified and licensed alarm monitoring service.
