§ 51.018 INSTALLATION OF SERVICE CONNECTION TO PUBLIC SEWER.
   (A)   The owners of property, upon which is located any building or other structure used or intended for human occupancy, employment, recreation or other similar purposes and from which wastewater is discharged, must install a suitable service connection to the public sewer in accordance with provisions of this code if the property abuts any street, alley, right-of-way, or easement in which there is a public sanitary sewer of the city. The installation shall be immediate if the public sewer presently exists. When a new or extended public sewer becomes operational and causes a property to come within the purview of this section, the owner of the property shall have 60 days from the operational date to complete the installation. The provisions of this section apply if the public sewer is:
      (1)   Within 300 feet of any structure that consists of or includes a restroom or bathroom or from which structure more than 500 gallons of wastewater is generated in any month; or
      (2)   Within 200 feet of any structure that does not consist of or include a restroom or bathroom and from which no more than 500 gallons of wastewater is generated per month.
   (B)   If sewer connections are not made pursuant to this section, an official 30-day notice shall be served instructing the affected property owner to make the connection.
