(A) Any individual hired by the town to perform duties as Marshal or Deputy Marshal shall be required to successfully complete the mandated basic training course within one year after the officer’s original appointment date by a single appointing authority.
(B) Any individual who fails to comply with this directive in accordance with the state’s Law Enforcement Training Board administrative rule 250 I.A.C. 123 shall not be empowered or authorized to enforce the laws of the state as a law enforcement officer as stated in his or her appointed duties. In addition to completing the mandated basic training course, each officer, whether full-time or reserve status, shall be required to complete at a minimum 16 hours of continuing education in areas required by Training Board instructions and will be encouraged to seek additional training as time and obligations permit.
(C) Any officer not complying with the required training requirements shall be subject to disciplinary action by the Board and Department assigned.
