(A) It shall be the duty of the Town Marshal or Deputy Marshal of this town to notify the county animal shelter to take charge of any dog, cat, or other domestic animal found running at large within the corporate limits of the town. The town will not be responsible for maintaining, feeding, or providing medical care for any such animal found to be in violation of this section. In the event an animal is found to be seriously injured, shows signs of illness, or demonstrates aggressive behavior while at large within the town limits, the Town Marshal or Deputy Marshal shall use his or her discretion in deciding whether to destroy the animal or contact the animal control office. In the event an animal must be destroyed, all precautions will be taken to do so in a safe, expedient, and humane manner. The remains of any animal destroyed will be dealt with by the Street Department in a manner that is non-hazardous to the welfare of the public.
(B) If an animal is suspected of being rabid, the owner of the animal shall be required to secure it according to state statutes.
(C) If a person is bitten by any dog, cat, or domestic animal, the animal will be required to be quarantined according to county directives.
