Pretreatment of industrial wastes from major contributing industries prior to discharge to the treatment works is required and is subject to the rules and regulations adopted by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) and published in the Federal Register on August 25, 1978 (40 C.F.R. Part 403) and Federal Guidelines Establishing Test Procedures for Analysis of Pollutants published in the Federal Register on October 16, 1973 (40 C.F.R. Part 136), in addition to any more stringent requirements established by the town, and any subsequent state or federal guidelines and rules and regulations.
