All sidewalks constructed within the public right of way of any City street or highway shall be constructed with materials that meet the following specifications.
(a) Cement. Cement shall be Portland cement and shall be a brand that is approved and accredited by the Portland Cement Association.
(b) Aggregate. Fine aggregate shall be natural sand. Coarse may be furnished in a two size mix, No. 4 and No. 6 or a single size, No. 57. All aggregate shall comply with the requirements of Section 499 of the City of Columbus Construction and Material Specifications Manual (current edition).
(c) Concrete. Concrete mix shall comply with the requirements of Section 499 of the City of Columbus Construction and Material Specifications Manual (current edition).
(d) Mortar. Mortar shall be type M Portland cement-lime mortar. Proportions by volume shall be one part Portland cement, one fourth part hydrated lime and three parts natural sand.
(e) Paving Bricks. Bricks shall conform to ASTM C-62 Grade SW. Minimum thickness shall be two inches. Other dimensions, color and shape of the bricks shall be approved, prior to installation by the Director of Service from samples.
(f) Joint Filler. Expansion joints shall be filled with a premolded bituminous filler material one-half inch wide by four inches deep, for the full width of the sidewalk.
