No person, society, club or corporation shall operator conduct a public or private dance at any public place in the City between the hours of 2:15 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday or Saturday of any week or between the hours of 1:00 a.m. on Sunday and 8:00 a.m. on Monday, provided that the foregoing regulations shall not apply to dancing at family sponsored assemblies or functions, such as receptions or reunions, admission to which is by invitation only, or to dances sponsored by school, church or civic groups. The Director of Safety may grant special permits for public dances to remain open until a later hour on special occasions, such as New Year's Eve or other holidays, except on Sundays.
