§ 90.01 DEFINITIONS.

   For the purpose of this chapter, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.

   ANIMALS. Any live, vertebrate creature, domestic or wild.

   ANIMAL CONTROL OFFICER. Any person designated by the city to perform duties as outlined in this chapter.

   AT LARGE.

      (1)   An animal that is not restrained by a leash or live kennel when off the premises of the owner.

      (2)   An animal that is not attended by a competent person, or not chained, restrained, enclosed or confined in a manner preventing it from leaving the owner’s premises or from reaching the public sidewalk.

   IMPOUND. The facility operated by the city, its authorized agents or designee for the purpose of impounding animals held under the authority of this chapter or state law.

   LIVESTOCK. Any animal except dogs, cats, hamsters, gerbils, guinea pigs, rabbits, ferrets, fish and birds.
